Guitar Design Research

As an infective art, music can expresses the emotion from the bottom of heart and be the reaction of the real life. Instrument is an important element of music. Guitar, as one of the top three instruments of the world as piano and violin, can express music of various subject and style by its beautiful voice. The appreciation on music is not only based on hearing, by the development of multimedia, the music live can be appreciated and the whole aesthetic of music can be enjoyed. As a key role of the whole aesthetic of music, the appearance of instrument is being paid more attention. However, the content and the form of music are unified. As an important role of the music form, its appearance is affected by the content and the style of music. Thus, this thesis studies the design of guitar in order to conclude a design method that based on style of music.According to the documents of theory, this thesis studies design of guitar appearance based on some related theory and method. At first, this thesis introduces the brief history of guitar music and guitar, various classifications of guitar and the classification of guitar music, and studies the basic knowledge on guitar structure and guitar material. Based on the consequents above, this thesis studies the appearance design of guitar by form, color and decoration. And then, discusses the relationship between guitar music and guitar, concludes a method of design that caused by the feature of guitar music style. And the thesis tries to make design by using this method, and it absorbs the semantics from Classical Guitar music, Jazz music, Country music, Heavy Metal Rock music and Latin music, offers design cases with these feature of this five kinds of guitar music. So, it proves the feasibility and scientific of the method that based on guitar music style.As same as the voice of guitar, the appearance of guitar is an important hand to expresses guitar music. Moreover, the appearance design of guitar is a key role to improve the competitiveness of a guitar product. By the study on this subject, I hope to make a little contribution to the guitar design study and promote the development and the innovation of guitar corporations.
