Rachmaninoff was born in Russia in 1873. As the chief representative of the Post-Russian Romantic Doctrine, he achieved remarkable success in music composing, piano performing and commanding art. "24 preludes for piano" of Rachmaninoff, which represented his consistent style, was written during his creation maturity period. Those works, which embodied superior playing technique and made outstanding artistic achievement, was regarded as the great pieces of Rachmaninoff's opus. Since the said piano preludes came out, myriads of celebrities followed up with high enthusiasm. And as sound recording technique progress, there were a large amount of performing version of such preludes appeared.Based on the book "Rachmaninoff s 24 preludes for piano", published by Shanghai Musical Journal in May 2001, this paper systematically compares and analyzes the performing version of 5 famous pianist:V·Ashkenazy,Idil Biret,Marta Deyanova,A·Weissenberg,Nebolsin Eldar. The thesis consists five parts. The 1st chapter is introduction which elucidates the subject selection, research overview, study significance and related background. In the 2nd part, seeing from a macroscopic perspective, the text will compare the performance of those 5 pianists for music emotion and composition structure. And the 3rd part will compare their works from microscopic perspective, such as tone, velocity, intensity, etc. The 4th chapter will make an overall summary for the combination of the 2nd and the 3rd part. Finally, on the basis of above discuss, the 5th part will focus on the analysis of original creation and second-timed creativity.
