Chorus itself is a bright pearl of treasure-house in human civilization; it comes from human social life and evolves with the development of social life changes. Chorus was introduced into China with new school campaign in the period of school songs, only a hundred years history dating back. In this period, the development of chorus in China was different from western and had been shaped its own unique way. In war times,the development of our country's chorus music have a bright political nature, meanwhile, it's also closely relates to national fate as well as society's civilization, it served as a powerful weapon and played a chin-up role. With the spring breeze of"Reform and opening-up"blowing, chorus in China developed prosperously and unprecedentedly while style and subject of the works both changed a lot."Reform and opening-up"is taken as the turning point of this thesis, and the text is based on hundreds years development of chorus in China, combined with political and social surroundings of each historical period to confirm the important development of chorus in each historical period and can have a notion that chorus in China has changed and evolved a lot after"Reform and opening-up"The thesis is made up of five parts, the first part mainly divided the development of chorus in China into four aspects and described thoroughly. The second part discussed the development and characteristics of chorus further at the five periods of"School Songs","May Fourth Movement","the1930s-1940s","the foundation of China"and"the Cultural Revolution"before"Reform and opening-up". Descriptions to development in some fields of chorus in China after"Reform and opening-up"are displayed in the third part to show the prosperity of chorus career in this period. The fourth part followed by the second and third parts. This part mainly argues the transformation of chorus in China. It enforces militancy and encouragement of chorus meanwhile focuses on beauty in form and function of appreciation of chorus itself. Last–the fifth part analyzes the problems objectively in Chinese chorus nowadays to promote the advancement of chorus in China effectively.
