As the most important writers of the New Chinese Literature , Ye Shengtao,Liu Bannong and Zhang Tianyi's popular literature works were always ignored.This paper is not noly mainly concerned with the popular literature of them during the republic era,but also talks over the influences on their New Chinese Literature from the popular literature. Considering them standing on the turning point of literature style changing from the old to the new,this paper tries to make a comprehensive evaluaion of their popular literature works and how to establish a link btween the popular literature and the May 4th literature.Considering the social environment and cultural environment of that time,this paper tries to analyze the reasons why put the three writers together.The full paper was divided into three parts.The frist part analyzes Ye's popular literature works and then obtains the results of his theory from this analyzion.Then this part tries to point out that Ye's realism on his writing is the ideological basis of"Literature for Life".The second part analyzes Liu's popular literature works ,centering on his fiction theory and writing during the republic era and tries to analyze the differences between his theory and writing and the one being considered to be Mandarin Ducks and Butterflies.It also tries to point out that Liu's popular literature has laid solid foundation for his prosing in the folk literature later.The third part analyzes Zhang's popular literature works.It tries to find out how to form his humorous and ironically style of writing from his reading and learning of Detective fiction.It can be concluded that what this paper concered will be of great help to our standing about the contribution of their works in Chinese Literary History.
