| With the deepening of the reform and opening up policy and the continuous increase of comprehensive national strength, China plays a progressively significant part in various international business activities. Talents who have a good command of both business knowledge and English become more popular. Accordingly, business English speciality is in full flourish, and the development of its curriculum design, education standards, quality of education, and course mode, etc. is highly valued by administrative departments at all levels.Communicative translation competence and translator education should become the core of translation teaching. In the conventional approach, translation is viewed as a static process of text transfer from the source language to the target language. Teacher's role in class is no more than imparting knowledge from top to bottom, and students are only passive recipients. Not only the teaching method is monotonous, translation textbooks are also dull and stale, many textbooks only provide the so-called right target versions. Students also reflect the lack of opportunity of creation and exploration during the learning process. Translation teaching is viewed merely as a transfer of that knowledge, and has become the process of memorizing and copying the standard translation script instead of exploring and experiencing.Today, corpus-based approach has been applied to many fields of language study, including language acquisition, language teaching, comparative linguistics, and many other disciplines. Study confirmed that corpus can not only be applied to the field of teaching and research, it can also make up the deficiencies mentioned above in translation teaching or translator education.This study, drawing on current insights through a corpus-based method, tries to search for a new approach to communicative translation class, and attempts to construct a corpus-based business English translation teaching model. Through empirical data, this research tries to demonstrate the new model can help to cultivate the students'interest, enhance their confidence and improve their translation competence in aspect of communicative and textual function of the target language. |
