Research On The Development Of Chinese Film Industry Chain Since 2003

It has been eight years since Chinese film began to comprehensively promote the industrialization process of Chinese film industry in 2003. In those eight years, with the acceleration of the economic growth and the industrial reform, Chinese film industry has become a new engine of Chinese economic growth. The average annual growth rate of Chinese film industry has been faster than that of GDP several times. Meanwhile, in the haze of the world economic crisis, Chinese film industry remained the situation of the rapid development, and played the leading role in the cultural industry development. So it is becoming one of the most potential sub-industries of the cultural industry. China is changing from a big film producer country to a powerful film country. Chinese film industry, has created another industrial miracle in Chinese way, and has proved the enduring power and vitality of Chinese economy once again.The achievements of Chinese film are largely due to a series of policies or regulations, which issued by government to promote the film industry, such as "Regulations on the Management of Film", "Views about speeding up the development of film industry", "Interim provision on entry qualification of film enterprises ", and so on. These policies or regulations lowered the threshold of film enterprises, paved the way for the development of Chinese film industry. Especially "Planning the Revitalization of the culture industry" made the cultural industry become one of the country's strategic industries. In this planning film industry is considered as one of the national key promoting projects; and the announcement of "Guidance on the promotion of prosperity and development of film industry" will become a positive and significant factor to the future development of Chinese film industry.Nowadays, in the concept of "big film industry", film industry will be chained as "investment-product-distribution-screening-after film product". It consists of the industry chain inside the system and outside the system in order to sequence of formation. In the traditional sense, film industry chain inside the system is the core of the film industry chain; the industry chain outside the system is the extension of the traditional industry chain, the head of which is mainly made by film financing, and the end contains:movie audio-visual products, posters, books, toys, clothing, theme parks, films on TV, films on mobile phone and so on.Because of the "barrel effect", the whole value of the film industry chain depends on the value of its weakest link. Only the value of the weakest link can be enhanced, the value of the whole film industry chain can be raised. However, there are many problems in the chain of Chinese film industry, such as unformed "producer system", lack of accurate dates and transparent distribution channels, total insufficiency and the irrational distribution of cinemas and movie screens, serious piracy, scarcity of film talent, and so on. If all those problems can not be effectively solved in the process of development, it will affect the long-term development of Chinese film industry. Therefore, the research of rules, problems and solutions about the development of Chinese film industry will become very significant at present.In this paper, I research on Chinese film industry from 2003 to 2010, begin with the perspective of the film industry chain. The main content can be divided into four chapters:The first chapter, the introduction about the basic theory of the film industry and the industrial chain; The second chapter, analyzing the development of Chinese film industry since 2003; The third chapter, analysis about the problems of Chinese film industry chain and interactions; The fourth chapter, point out ten suggestions about the development of Chinese film industry and the improvement of film industry chain.
