Artistic Characteristics Study On Pixar's Animated Films

Pixar Animation Studios is located in Emeryville of California in USA. Most of its works have won such prizes as best animated feature films and short films of Awards including some technical prizes since 1984. So far, the academics have reinterpreted the Pixar Animational art at multiple levels from a series of perspectives and have made certain results too.The author chooses the eleven animated films of Pixar to have a deep research on artistic characteristics that are related to some other sides such as narratology, aesthetics, audience psychology and so on, just to find out their internal artistic features and connotative creation regular patterns. Firstly, the author analysis the related background of the Pixar Animation Studios and discuss the facilitation of the management mode and enterprise culture of Pixar Animation Studios on cartoon creation on the base of scanning many domestic and international articles and material related, and selected some Pixar's animated films as examples to analysis exactly relating to some other sides such as subject matters,themes, characters, audio visual and aesthetics, talking over the features of topic selecting and the intermittently expression pattern of kinship, love and friendship, which are compounded in one film. Thirdly, the author analysis and classifies the characteristics and functions of them in the animations with Greimas action mode theory, stating expression type of role subversion in animations and creative methods keeping pace to the time. Fourthly, seeing from visual and aesthetical displayment, it's normally found that the characters moulding,environment moulding, color and music displayments are designed very well. Finally, in conclusion of the relational researches above.Bringing length films of Pixar into post-modern aesthetic field and to have an analyse on aesthetic feature of animated films of Pixar and pointing out aesthetic value of Pixar animations. The creation of cartoon refers to materiel selection, script creation, also including design of roles' images and actions, depict of character traits, tone of the whole movie and some technology manufacture involving upper dubbing and film cutting. The author deeply wish that the article about Pixar's correlational research could provide a new mentality and enlightenment for fraternity. The abundant resources of the folk culture in our country is a rich ore of new ideas. The problem of how to take others'successful creative experiences for example to produce splendid cartoon with Chinese national features which was hot and drew a large number of audience still needs to be solved by art workers on theory and culture.
