Yi mask in Yinnan. which is always inseparable with the fire and tiger fate or funeral ritual, amuse both the divinity and human along with religion ritual.It is not only the materializaton of religion, but also the embodiment of yi people's aesthetic taste. And it is the very unique, grotesque, primitive mask modelling, which provides rich resource of inspiration for animation character design.The paper, by discussing both of the relevance and differences between the character animation and Yi mask, aims to find a way to apply the yi mask art element in animation character design.In the fourth chapter, the viewpoint, that generality of Yi mask and animation character is "abstraction", "unreality", "exaggeration " was put forward from graphics angle. And the generality is also the foundation and rationality of theoretical argument. What's more, the way of "deconstruction and reconstruct", as a concrete method of applying Yi mask in animation character design, has been validated by practice.After the reference and application in the form, the futher discuss about the two forms of art to entered the spiritual level, in the aesthetics categories, which is an even deeper and broader domain. While the art will of animation character is "amusing", which reflects the positive aesthetic pleasure. Finally, the solution that abandon vulgar and advocate diverse, was proposed.
