In the year of 2010, the box office of Chinese movie broke through 10 billion. The Chinese film industry is now in a high-speed industrialization. However while the big-budget movies are advancing triumphantly, the market space of the small and medium budget movies is becoming more and more smaller.They have to struggle hardly for existence between big-budget movies from both abroad and local. Based on current situation, this dissertation firstly expounds the importance of small and medium budget movies to the current film industrial structure, and the great role that film distribution plays on the way the small and medium budget movies entering into the market. Second, through deeply comparing between the two movies, small-budget movie "taxi at the dead of the night" and big-budget movie "the painted skin" on their different distribution strategy, scale and publicity programme, clarified the differences between small and medium budget movies and big-budget movies. Then summarizes and discusses the distribution dilemma that small and medium meet, like capital limit, resources shortage, industrial framework irrational, etc. Third, based on the focus communication theory, combines the characteristics of small and medium budget movies and the current media environment, put forward that small and medium budget movies should carry out focus communication strategy. According to the current situation of the development of Chinese film industry, points out that spread regional distribution, Exploit the secondary market and expand distribution channels are important ways for small and medium budget movies to enter the market. Finally, through introducing some valuable film distribution cases from both abroad and local, provides some useful references for related practitioners.
