" Jing Yin Zi Hui" (Homophone Dictionary of Beijing Reading) by Wangpu, is published in 1912. It presented the standard reading of Beijing Dialect a century ago.The writer of this article carefully went through the whole book, and compared it with "Guoyin Changyong Zihui" of 1932 and "Xiandai Hanyu Cidian"(Dictionary of Modern Chinese) of 2005, drew out 621 characters that their readings were different somehow in those threedictionarys. Through a respectively analysis, classified them into the forms of initial difference, final difference and tone difference. Some short comments were also attached in places. How to determine the tones of the Characters that were Rusheng (entering tone) in the classical Chinese had been a disturbing subject in the work of modern Chinese normalization. This article researched on it in Chapter Five. The result showed that most of the characters in this group bore two or more readings in Wangpu's works, and more often than not, including one that was in the fourth tone. The other two dictionaries deleted most of the fourth tone readings of them, because they were not exactly existed in the spoken language daily used by the local folks..The writer hope that this work would help the understanding of the history of normalization of modern Chinese.
