| Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit marks the beginning of the author's experiment with style, structure and language. It is this novel that establishes the distinctive writing style of the author which not only presents Winterson's unique writing technique but also shows her profound feminist standpoint. Though there are a great number of excellent theses and monographs analyzing this novel in detail, they seldom make analysis of how the text itself manifests feminist standpoint from the perspective of narratology. This paper will use the criticism of feminist narratology and focuses on narrative focalization, narrative voice and spatio-temporal narrative to elaborate on narrative structures and strategies in the context of cultural constructions, and how these strategies present the ideological stance of the author. |
