"Pure poetry" was the product of Liang Zongdai combining ancient and modern, oriental and western. The thchnique of his combining work was skilled, harmonious without any trace of leakage, which attributed to his excellent understanding of tiaddional Chinese culture and seized the essence of the late French symbolism. Chinese classical pastoral poems are the predecessors of "pure poetry" if we track down the origins which corresponded with the "purity" of the late French symbolism. Liang Zongdai grasped the same points of these two cultures and absorted, transformed, abounded and developped "pure poetry" theory.
