In the first chapter, the thesis makes a general introduction to the whole organization from the aspect of background study, definition clarification and the organization of the thesis. In the second chapter, the thesis makes the analysis on the curriculum for English teacher education from abroad and domestic aspects respectively, and pays special attention to characteristics of the curriculum for English teacher education in China, i.e. being specialized, being flexible and being open. In the third chapter, the thesis briefly introduces the curriculum for English teacher education in Changchun Normal College and then explains the theoretical basis and research methods in terms of research questions, participants and data collection, for instance, student questionnaires, teacher questionnaires and interviews. Chapter four concludes the general principles of the curriculum for English teacher education in Changchun Normal College on the basis of the summary and the analysis of the data collected. In Chapter five, the thesis proposes the practical suggestions on the curriculum for general courses, specialized courses and pedagogic courses, generalizes the main idea and points out the shortcomings, which are to be improved in the future.Some major findings could be concluded as follows. Firstly, the objective of course offering should be specified to cultivate English language teachers who will serve for elementary and secondary education, and to foster various techniques of English as the secondary and additional objective. Secondly, course offering concerning general education should be enriched and widened in more subjects and domains. It is not real to offer such diversiform courses to compete with colleges who stand in the top class, though; it is feasible to utilize the local resources as to call for various coursed. Meanwhile, the proportion between selective coursed and compulsory courses should be in balance and even the proportion among selective coursed should be taken into consideration. Thirdly, as for the course offering concerning specialized education, it is necessary to handle the interrelationships between language skill training and language knowledge learning; and to establish a good ground is very necessary to students in this local normal college. Also, it is suggested to integrate correlated courses into a new one and to make a balance among different subjects. Fourthly, in the aspect of course offering concerning pedagogic education, according to our research, it is suggestive to enrich the kinds of courses offered and to make the exercitation more profound in order to clarify the features of a normal college.
