More and more readers and researchers pay close attention to Elias Canetti's Confusion because of its"broad horizons, plentiful ideology and artistic moving force". Although the research of this novel has got some achievements, the study of the strong fable character of this work is still relatively weak. This article chooses Canetti's novel as a study, using Benjamim's modern theory, emphasized on making text analysis on the basis of reading the novel, revealing the unique modern fable character of the novel. Meanwhile this article discusses the deep reason that forming uniqueness according to studying the author's identity and the impact of kafka.This paper can be divided into four parts. In the first part, simply clarifying Benjamim's modern theories characters—ambiguity, fragmentation, depression based on reviewing the traditional fables and related theories, which is theoretic foundation. Meanwhile, exploring the fable origin of Confusion from canetti's identity problem and the kafka's influence. In the second part, discussing the essential features of the fable. Combining modern fable theory, this part is trying to dig Confusion's fable deeply on the basis of reading the text carefully. In the third part, analyzing the three expressing forms of fable, that is, fable figure, fable image, fable construction. We can get further understanding of the spirit connotation by fable analysis. The fourth part elucidates the inspiration brought about by Confusion based on the above parts, which is the deep meaning that Canetti wanted to express: salvation and hope.
