This thesis mainly studies English segmental phonemes and suprasegmental phonemes through the design and selection of speech corpus, including vowels, consonants, diphthongs, sentence linking, intonation and rhythm. Using method of Experimental Phonetics, error analysis and contrastive analysis, we analyze 30 college students'experimental data and make a comprehensive summary of Chinese college students' learning errors in English pronunciation.Through sound spectrogram analysis and relevant parameters, the results are as follows: There are errors in tongue position including height and front and back position, and errors in vowel duration. The error of diphthongs is lack of sliding between first vowel and last vowel in one diphthong. The first vowel of diphthong is usually pronounced with long duration and high intensity, and this characteristic of speakers is not obvious. The pronunciation errors in consonants are mainly the exchange of voiced and unvoiced consonants and the sound confusion, the sound adding in stops, sound loss in consonant clusters, and replacing some English constants with some Chinese pronunciation by the impact of Chinese negative transference. The errors in linking are: the linking frequency is too small, the pronunciation with some pauses is not nature in position of linking, and the duration of the sentence is too long. Chinese speakers can speak rising tone best and females are more inclined to use rising tone. The errors in rhythm are: too long sentence duration, too much stressed syllables and pauses and stops between stressed and unstressed syllables and lack of rhythm. In response to these errors, this paper presents that the methods in Experimental Phonetics can be as a reference for English phonetics teaching, We can use the sound analysis software to stimulate students'interests in learning English phonetics and based on phonemes, linking, intonation and rhythm to give them targeted training in pronunciation.
