Translation, as a means of communication, has a long history. However, looking at the eastern and western translation history, one will see the fact that people only pay attention to translation theory, translation standard, translation methods, but neglect the most important factor in translation—translator. With the development of translation study, people pay more attention to the translator. The appearance of Reception Theory makes people raise the status of translator. Reception Theory emphasizes the reader as the center, and the value of literal works can be achieved by readers'reading. This concept offers a new perspective for translation. In the translation, translator first be regarded as the reader of the works. So Reception Theory improves the status of translator. Translation not only transforms two languages, but also exchanges two cultures. In this transformation, the translator, as bridge, plays a role in joining two cultures. This paper, based on the Reception Theory as the framework, puts more efforts into the study of the status of translator in the exchanging of cultures.
