Selecting Promoting Teacher Reflection in Second Language Education—A Framework for TESOL Professionals by Thomas S.C.Farrell as the source text and being guided by Translator's Subjectivity Theory and Reader Reception Theory,the translator of the project translates and analyzes Chapter 1 and 2,with the help of parallel text.By introducing the latest theories and teaching methods of TESOL,the translator of the project aids to introduce the latest theories and teaching methods of TESOL into China with the purpose of adapting the soaring wave of studying aboard and immigration.Six chapters comprise this report.Chapter 1 is the introduction of translation project,briefly introducing background and significance of the project.Chapter 2 introduces the original author and background information of the source text and analyzes illustrating linguistic features of the source text.Chapter 3 presents Translator's Subjectivity Theory and Reader Reception Theory,and discusses how they inspire the translator of the project in translation.Chapter 4 describes the definition of parallel text in translation and how it is used in this project.Chapter 5 presents what is the parallel text and its function.Chapter 6 analyzes cases in the translation.It also discusses difficulties in the translation such as proper terms and complex sentences.To tackle these difficulties,the translate adopts methods and skills including amplification,division and voice changing.And Chapter 6 states experience gained and problems unsolved in the translation.
