The dissertation falls into three parts. In the first part, the findings of the scholars on this problem are collected and studied, on the basis of which the problems that need further study are analyzed. In the second part, the characteristics and the process of the regional cultural integration in Qin Dynasty and Early Han Dynasty are the main focus. The cultural integration in Xia Dynasty, Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty all took the culture of the core ethic group as the main body to integrate the culture of the whole country. But, in the Qin Dynasty and Han Dynasty, the regional cultures inherited from the Spring and Autumn Period were highly developed without the domination of the culture of a core ethic group and without a regional culture rising to the main body of culture. The cultural integration could only be achieved in the process of mutual conflict, mutual compromise and mutual integration. Therefore, the process of the regional cultural integration in Early Han Dynasty was mainly a process of mutual conflict, mutual intake and mutual integration of the three regional cultures, which were Qin Culture, Chu Culture and Qilu Culture. At the same time, the concept of regional culture in Han Dynasty had changed and the general recognition of the whole country had been formed. As a result, unified Han Culture came into being in the Middle of West Han Dynasty. In the third part, many kinds of affecting factors of the regional cultural integration in Early Han Dynasty are discussed. Among the factors, six are main factors. They are political powers, the Thought of Confucius Unification, the systems of language, supervision and imperial examination, the network of transportation and economy, and the immigration and mobilization of the people. In the six factors, political powers and the Thought of Confucius Unification can be regarded as the driving forces of the regional cultural integration in Early Han Dynasty, while the other four factors can be regarded as the conditions and basis of the cultural integration with the factor of the immigration and mobilization of the people undoubtedly playing the most important role.
