In recent years, the teaching of culture has become an increasingly important aspect of foreign language instruction. Many authors try to incorporate it in the design of textbooks, which have long played a central role in classroom instruction. This thesis is aimed at investigating the cultural content of NSCE now widely used in college English teaching in many Chinese universities. It is hoped that the study will provide useful suggestions for college English teaching in China.It's of realistic meaning to research and evaluate whether English textbooks can achieve the goal of combining language communication practice with cultural teaching closely, whether they meet the demands of students' language and culture learning, whether they can generate benign circulation in the learning process. Research and evaluation of English language teaching is communicative practice to achieve close integration between culture and teaching, students can learn the language and culture to adapt to the needs of the learning process,and produce a virtuous circle effect with real significance. Through analysis of New Standard College English(NSCE), The English language teaching was embodied in the concept of combining with the culture, combined with experience in teaching materials in use. NSCE textbook on the combination of language and culture has done a very useful attempt. From the selection of material in the text theme, cultural practice on more themes, cultural themes into other aspects of the culture of short stories with different angles subtly, they shows multi-cultural knowledge, training of cross-cultural awareness, especially from exercises about speaking and writing to Canada comparison among America culture, England culture, Canda culture, Chinese culture, the aouthor thinks English expression exercises have adapted to the needs of cultural exchange, which helps students in the context of cross-cultural communicate using proper, decent, authentic English language skills, students' language and cultural awareness improves their cultural literacy and overall English proficiency.
