Phonetic complement, first appearing in Cuneiform study work, is a phenomenon described from phonetics. First of all, phonetic complement is a superfluous phenomenon in phonetics, which partly or fully implies the sound of original characters. From the view point of this, phonetic complement does not be pronounced. Second, phonetic complement is subordinate and it must be attached to the original characters and pronounced together. Hence, Phonetic complement is dispensable. Both Maya Hieroglyphs and Dongba Hieroglyphs are independently created ideo-phonetic writing system, which belong to immature script(ideograph is the major part of script which is recorded partly), the function of script is in close connection with religion and memory. The comparison of phonetic complements'patterns. According to language features, locations of phonetic complement, integrity of phonetic complement and the syllable number of original characters, the comparison between Maya Hieroglyphs and Dongba Hieroglyphs is made. Their similarity and particularity are also analysed. The causes of Phonetic complement. The correspondence of language and script is a complicated issue, no matter in mature script and immature scripts. It is mainly caused by the multiple functions of script symbols. Phonetic complement can relieve such complicated issue. The relationship of Phonetic complement, language and script. The emerging of phonetic complement is unrelated with language style and script style, but the numbers and styles of Phonetic complements have close connection with the pattern of scripts and styles of languages. Phonetic complement and phonogram influence and stimulate each other. The development of Phonetic complement reflects the Diachronic and Synchronic of script development. Studies on phonetic complement are meaningful not only practically but also theoretically.
