China and South Korea are geographically close, they are both belong to the East Asian cultural circle, with a long culture exchange history of over 2000 years. However, the two nations have different geographical and historical background, which leads to the differences of values, cognitive style and habits of mind between them. Chinese locution is a fixed form of language which created by the Han people in the long working life. Whether their literal meaning or the figurative meaning both has a close relationship with the Chinese culture. Thus, even the differences of the two nations are few, Korean people encounter difficulties in understanding such language.Currently, the academic study of Chinese locution is focused on the nature of Chinese locution and research of foreign language teaching. But most of these researchers are Chinese. They are mainly focused on the bias and its reasons for it on application of locution, with little discussion on comprehension problems of it.Based on the previous studies, this article firstly made a research on the commonly used phrases by Chinese people and distinguished the frequency of the use of different phrases to identify the scope of the research, then investigated the influences of the differences between Chinese culture and Korean culture for Korean students to understand these phrases by the way of questionnaire surveys. Secondly, to analyze the possible barriers during understanding from three aspects:Spiritual cultural, institutional custom culture, and other cultures. At last, to put forward the proposal for preferred teaching on phrases learning for Korean students.This thesis is divided into five chapters, the main content of each chapter is as follows:The First Chapter:The background and significance of topics, introducing the research methods and research priorities. Studies review consist of four parts:the ontological study of the locution; the study of the relationship between the locution and the culture; the study of the locution in teaching Chinese as a foreign language; the comparative study about the locution between China and South Korea.The second Chapter:The theoretical basis of the research. It is divided into two parts: the Cultural differences between China and South Korea; the cultural connotation of the locution in Chinese.The third Chapter:The confirming of the research objects. Based on the former materials and survey collect the frequently-used locution in the HSK, teaching program and common materials.The Forth Chapter:The influence of the cultural differences to South Korean students understand the locution. Analyzing the questionnaire, making forms and discussing the influence of the cultural differences to South Korean students when they understand the locution.The Fifth Chapter:The reason analysis of the cultural barriers in South Korean students understand the Chinese locution. Based on the forth chapter, discussing the cultural barriers when South Korean students understand the locution from three aspects:the spiritual culture, system culture and other cultures. In addition, putting forward some teaching suggestions in teaching the locution.
