China and South Korea, which are the neighbors across the sea, have a long history of cultural exchange. Sino-South Korea bilateral cultural exchange which is an important part of exchange between the two peoples has deepened understanding and friendship. However, there are some questions to be settled urgently as Sino-South Korea relationship has developed rapidly at the same time. So, how to treat and solve these problems will directly affect not only the prospect of the development of cultural exchange, but also the strategic partnership in the long run. This paper will try to conduct research and discuss on the cultural exchange between China and South Korea.The paper is divided into four parts.The first part discusses the necessity of Sino-South Korea cultural exchange. The long-term cultural exchange between China and South Korea has had very positive and far-reaching impact on the bilateral relationship. They learn from each other and develop together. Through this, they increase their trust, resolve their doubt and expand their cooperation. They have promoted the Eastern culture and created a new century of Asia. Sino-South Korea cultural exchange is conducive to deepen the understanding and friendship between the two peoples and promote the bilateral relation.The second part discusses the feasibility of cultural exchange between China and South Korea. Firstly, this paper analyzes the four characteristics of Chinese culture: taking the Confucianist culture as typical representative; pursuiting the spread of culture and the integration of the world to achieve Utopia; specially esteeming"Benevolence","Rightouse","Politeness","Intelligence","Trust"; treasuring the ideal value of"harmony". Secondly, it introduces several characteristics of South Korean's culture. In the South Korean culture, the Confucianist culture is treasured and the idea of justice and humanity is remarkable. The South Korean culture absorbs other culture, has the sense of family consciousness and collective consciousness. So, the South Korean culture has a very strong ability of innovation. Through contrasting the cultures of China and South Korea, we shall find that the two cultures can learn mutually and melt.The third part discusses the effectiveness and questions of contemporary Sino-South Korea cultural exchange, which are the focus of this paper. Firstly, it describes the four outstanding performances of the rapid development: developing rapidly in education cooperation; communicating rapidly in exchange of television programs and movies; emerging vigorously in exchange of sports, clothes and diet. Secondly, it analyzes the reasons of rapid development of cultural exchange between China and South Korea. These reasons include: finishing hostile relationship and establishing normal diplomatic relation; sharing the common Confucianist culture; carrying on cultural exchange early. This part also analyzes the questions and the reasons existing in the process of Sino-South Korea cultural exchange.The fourth part provides some suggestions promoting the process of Sino-South Korea cultural exchange. These suggestions includes: strengthening the development power of Chinese culture and enriching the content of Sino-South Korea cultural exchange; dealing with the research issues of history properly and avoiding politicizing the academic issues; promoting the symmetrical exchange of culture positively and welcoming the people of South Korea to understand China and the Chinese culture; expanding the origins of funds for cultural exchange; regarding cultural exchange as a long-term enterprise; promoting cultural exchange in many forms, areas, and multi-channels.
