A Study Of Military Strategists' Philosophy Of Pre-Qin Period

This paper, on the basis of traditional philology, textual criticism, Zhuzi-ology and modern history, philosophy, through the research on text and literature, taking Sun Wu, Sun Bin as the center of expounding, tries to understand the whole military philosophy of pre-Qin period. From the discussing of the core problem of Sun Wu and Sun Bin's military philosophy, the philosophy structure of military theory of pre-Qin period and the humanistic spirit and contemporary value of military strategists of pre-Qin period, this paper, through a philosophical point of view, discusses the status and value of military philosophy in the history of Chinese Philosophy and ideas. And based on this, we can get a in-depth understanding about the military strategists thoughts of the pre-Qin period.More specifically, the "Introduction" section focuses on the overview of military strategists and their theoretical writings of pre-Qin period, which believed that this period is of the top representative and source on the theory achievement of Chinese ancient military theory. And academic articles, works on this research are also basically showed in this review. The first chapter mainly introduces the social background, intellectual history background of the emerge of military philosophy of pre-Qin period, and also the stage of development of it. The second chapter mainly discusses the ontology of the military theory of pre-Qin period, which considered the ontology of the military theory as the footstone and value of Chinese military theory, which cannot be ignored. The feature and main content of the ontology lies in the expounding of Dao, which is the highest category. This shows the keen observation and profound thought on the war essence, social phenomenon and national political of military strategists. The third chapter is basically on military strategists' thought of value. This paper believed that the core problem of military strategists'thought of value lies in the relationship between justice and interests, which is extended out by the ontology of the military theory, and embodied in the moral basis, people-oriented ideology, national interest as the reflection center of the Chinese military culture. The fourth chapter, from the theory of Qi-Zheng, reveals the mature understanding and practice of military strategists' methodology of pre-Qin period. This paper affirmed that the theory of Qi-Zheng can focus and show the overall thinking, multi-dimensional perspective and the dialectical wisdom of military strategists. The theory of Qi-Zheng is the product of the high development of Philosophy, and at the same time is the guarantee of the mature and perfect of military theory. The fifth chapter is the summary based on the first four parts, which, from the perspective of history of thought, discusses the relation and difference between military strategists and pre-Qin thinkers. And from the perspective of modern military theory, philosophy research and philosophical theory application, this paper points out the the historical significance and modern value of military theory of pre-Qin period.
