The Relationship between Word and Meaning is simply the relationship between the sign, the language and the meaning. In other words, it means whether the language and sign convey meaning and how can we grasp meaning, all of which is a significant issue discussed in Chinese ancient article. The relationship between word and meaning, in reading level, evolves into a kind of subtle relationship among writer, work, and reader. Once grasping the relationship between word and meaning make it possible for the reader and the writer to establish favorable mutual communication. Concerning the issue about how to grasp the original meaning, the hermeneutic and the accepted aesthetics in western country had made profound research in perspective of language, meaning, text, reader and the original meaning among which hermeneutic lay emphasis on the relationship of language and meaning in view of interpreter and text. That is, they evaluate whether the language can express meaning by the capability of the interpreter in understanding text.Hermeneutic in western country has already been starting to focus on the reader. They proclaimed the issue that whether the reader can grasp the original meaning of a work by discussing some facts that the reader should get rid of old conception and grasp the objectivity (the original meaning), as well as the transcending the original meaning by the dialogue between reader and text. On the other hand, the accepted aesthetic, completely centering on the reader, consider that the text is not the same as the work. The text is a text of history, while the value of a work depends on the understanding of reader. The original meaning is expressed by the activity of the reader's acceptation and expression. Later, the paper discusses my own perspective towards reading a work and makes deliberate distinction on the relation of the meaning of word and meaning with writer, work and reader correspondingly. However, the different explanations by different readers are finally the part of original meaning. The understanding by the reader can't express the meaning of the writer to the great extent.
