The inherit and development ancient cultural relics which represents the spirit of ancient civilization and material development degree can promote the modern civilization and material civilization, so the cultural relics workers and experts pay more and more attention to the protection of cultural relics in recent years. We researched the tendency of the change of five kinds of pigments and silk under UV irradiation and discussed the mechanism of the change. This research provided the basis for the protection of the cultural relics. This thesis mainly applied non-destructive analysis technology of the ultraviolet visible spectroscopy of solid diffuse reflectance (DSR) and near-infrared spectroscopy to research the discoloration of pigments of cinnabar, zhubiao, kermes, malachite and azurite which were used frequently in culture relics under 365 nm UV irradiation. The results showed that spectra of cinnabar, zhubiao and kermes were S shape and their stability trend was zhubiao, cinnabar, kermes and malachite, azurite had clock shape spectra, and malachite was more stable than azurite. Infrared spectroscopy was used to research the change of silk under 254 nm and 365 nm UV irradiation. The results showed the change of the characteristic peak of silk, and discussed the tendency of every peak and the mechanism of change with the extension of time for irradiation. These work provided the basis for the choices of preservation conditions in painting and calligraphy class and cultural relics of the silk category.
