Love Letter tells a story about youth and growth. The movie, unfolding with development of love explicitly and friendship implicitly, focuses on nature of human beings. The heroine Lu Yuan cannot accept the fact that her boyfriend Li Chen died in a subway accident, and keeps going to read love letters for him on the subway station every day. Lu's roommate Chen Yue finds the miserable fact and tries to console her by secretly putting a picture of the young couple taken under a heart-shaped tree in Lu's drawer. The heroine is touched by the kind move and believes it is a manifestation of their love.
