English teaching have been played attention to for a long time by many experts, they sum up many teaching methods during the research. Contemporary characteristics has changed, so has the requirements of human resource, we need to cultivate applied and innovation qualified persons, so we should have new teaching method to meet the needs and solve the problem of low efficiency and silence English. We have found that Role-play teaching method can solve the problem well through the teaching procedure. The paper states the definition, types, theoretical basis, reality basis, research meaning, implementation principles and implementation steps about Role-play teaching method through documentary analysis method, empirical approach, observational method, experiential summary method and giving examples.Chapter one, firstly we point out the necessity of carrying out Role-play teaching method, which is to cultivate talents who can meet the needs of new situation. Then we talk about the research meaning of this paper: it provides methodology to English teaching in our country; it guides the teaching activities to reach certain effect.Chapter two, which is literature review. We list the ideas, articles and works of some experts and scholars, which are about the application of Role-play teaching method in English classroom teaching.Chapter three, we tidy the development history of Role-play, and introduce the process as a teaching method in the first part. In the second part, we sum up the experts' definitions of Role-play teaching method from different angles, at the same time we show our understanding about Role-play teaching method. In the third part, we introduce the classify of Role-play teaching method all over the world, then divide it into four pieces through summing up their rules:Full control type of role playing, Half of control type role playing, Half a freestyle role playing and freestyle role playing. In the fourth part, we point out the theoretical basis of Role-play teaching method, which is Social Learning Theory and cooperative learning, and think them support Role-play teaching method. The last part we introduce the reality basis and meaning of using Role-play teaching method.Chapter four, In the first part we refer to the teaching aims of Role-play teaching method—macro teaching goal and specific teaching goal. In the second part we talk about the basis teaching principle of Role-play teaching method. In third part we show the implementation steps of Role-play teaching method in English classroom teaching, there are six stages from creating situation to information feedback, which make it easy to carry out it. The last part we talk about the problems during the procedure of implementing it.Chapter five, there are four examples according to the four types of Role-play teaching method.Chapter six, we sum up the feasibility and necessity, confirm its good teaching effect, on the other hand we point out some points which need to study further.
