The Research Of The Contemporary Chinese Values

In the transition period of Chinese society, people urgently need a more comprehensive and profound understanding about the contemporary Chinese people's values. The values are the fundamental view that people treat the problem of values, and the judgment on the social relations. It affects people's lives, study and work. The values decide people's value judgments and value choices.2,000years ago, Socrates shouted "Know yourself", which had essentially involved the questioning of human values. The values both in theory and in practice are always new topics. China is still in the primary stage of socialism. The gap between rich and poor still exists in real life, and people's values conflict become increasingly obvious, which makes people feel more and more confused and fearful. Social issues are emerging, like continuous jumping events in Foxconn, college students and even Dr. end their lives in some extreme way due to the pressure of life, emotion, and repeated coalmine accidents and so on. These are contrary to building a harmonious society and achieving the requirements of "people-oriented". It makes people pay more attention to the value of their lives, focus on the meaning of life and of their rights, and force people to re-find their spiritual home and value. Therefore, the research on contemporary Chinese values, the declaration of the values of examining people and the promotion of achieving the values are still practical and significant.This article takes a systematic exploration and study on contemporary values. Firstly, it considers the basic provisions of the value and values, how to understand the value and values; Secondly, it connects theory with practice to explore the values of contemporary Chinese and analyze the contemporary Chinese people's values hierarchy and the values of mainstream ideology. It is also thinking about the confusion in lost of contemporary Chinese and how to be free from the confusion. Finally, it seeks the basic principles of Chinese values, as well as specific implementation approaches in the process of constructing the Socialist harmonious society. Hopefully, it can enrich and develop the theory about human values, and can provide the ethical basis for the construction of a Socialist harmonious society.This article has four chapters. Chapter I is an introduction part, mainly on the purpose and significance of the research about the contemporary Chinese values; analysis problems and thread of the research about the contemporary Chinese values. Chapter II is the basic provisions on value and values. It is the theoretical basis of the whole article, which introduces respectively the philosophy provisions of the value and the philosophy-related content of the values, in an attempt to strengthen the understanding of the values from the theoretical aspects. Chapter III is the core part. It systematically analyzes the values of the contemporary Chinese people. This Chapter demonstrates the evolution characteristics of contemporary Chinese values from four aspects, the values conversion from traditional to modern; the interaction of single and pluralistic values; the conflict between the pursuit of ideals values and realistic values. It focuses on analysis of the structure, function, the contradiction and unity of the Chinese Values hierarchy system. It tries to comprehensively understand the status of contemporary Chinese values with multiple perspectives. Chapter IV is discussing the values of building a harmonious society. It analyzes the significance and principles and proposes specific ways for building harmonious social values. Based on the theoretical studies of building harmonious social values, it inherits and carries forward the fine aspects of traditional values, and fosters civil awareness and strengthens social morality construction.Chinese values are different from other values structures under other cultural backgrounds, which has a certain uniqueness. Its structure is multidimensional, with distinctive Chinese cultural characteristics. If we want to build a harmonious socialist society, we have to have a clear knowledge and understanding of the current values of the Chinese people, and propose appropriate countermeasures, implementation ways. We need connect our study of values with the world as soon as possible, and make our philosophy study of value be more concerned about the reality, people's life and the role of government and the public.
