So far, folk beliefs in Shanxi have a history of thousands of years. With the development of the times, Shanxi folk beliefs themselves are also in constant development change. Since the Reform and Opening-up, with the rapid development of Shanxi society and economy, the folk beliefs have evolved. This paper will put the youth's folk beliefs under the big environment of Reform and Opening-up below to research. Also, this paper will analyses the situation and the reasons of folk beliefs in the youth in Shanxi, and discusses it's characteristics in details. The paper includes the following five parts:The first part undertakes the definition of folk beliefs, reviews the related research status, and defines the concept associated with this thesis, also introduced the study of the basic ideas and main research methods.The second part discusses the situation of the Shanxi middle-aged folk beliefs, examines two places mainly in the city of Taiyuan and the country of Xia. Including how many folk beliefs of the believers during local middle-aged man, what the gods they mainly believe, and what reasons lets them believe in the gods, how many their beliefs and activities.The third part discusses the situation of the Shanxi youth folk beliefs, examines destinations located in the north, south and the middle. The content includes the proportion of folk beliefs of the young believers, and the concepts and activities of other folk beliefs about ancestors and supernatural beliefs in Shanxi youth.The fourth part respectively discusses the same points and differences of Shanxi the youth folk beliefs.The fifth part provides characteristic and tendency of contemporary folk beliefs in Shanxi. Polytheistic religion, secularization, utilitarian and inter-generational transmissions can be continued. Arbitrariness of faith attitude, subjectivity of followers, ideas and activities adapt to the era of innovation belief subjectivity, rational of faith are gradually enhanced. Folk beliefs have started the modern transformation.
