Interaction And Integration: The Relationship Between Contemporary Christianity And Chinese Folk Belief

Since the 1980 s,under the aegis of the party's religious policy in the new period,the mass of the Christian believe in sports,especially in the vast rural areas,the church gradually restore and to build,the religious groups and beliefs masses increase rapidly.Along with the popularity of Christianity in the countryside,folk beliefs also showed signs of revival in the countryside.However,Christianity and Chinese folk belief,as two different forms of belief,have always had a relationship of conflict and integration.Folk beliefs refers to people spontaneously in the concept of a divine worship,praying to rid a disaster for the reality of basic demands,and with the worship of belief and behavior habits and the floorboard of the ritual activities.Folk belief although belongs to a kind of unofficial culture,religious culture system in China is not dominant,but in the long historical process which affects Chinese society in the majority of ordinary people(farmers)way of thinking and behavior habits.After the introduction of Christianity,there was a fierce conflict with Chinese folk beliefs in traditional customs and customs,which had an important influence on China's religious ecology.Christianity and the relationship between the folk belief,is not only reflected in the contradiction and conflict between the two,and deep in a Christian in the process of localization and folk beliefs "adaptive fusion".A god of the Christian is exclusive religion,there are strict doctrines,thus the Christian faith should have more consistent behavior and ideas,but because of the characteristics of localization,doctrine theology itself is hard to agree with faith practices.In fact,to places most of the Christian has transcendence,such as channeling spirits,appendage,which is usually associated with folk beliefs,but also appears in the experience of the Christian world,and the localization of Christianity.In other words,in the process of the practice of the localization,appeared with god's things to do some of its function of folk religious rite activities,which inevitably involves the influence of local folk beliefs to christians.For example,in the field practice,the author found that for the "God" of Christianity,the ordinary congregation would explain the theory of folk belief,such as "Jade Emperor = God".However,in the interpretation of this set of theories,people's cognition of Christian doctrine is different,and it may appear in the process of religious activities to understand Christianity through the concept of folk belief.The study shows that the spread and development of Christianity in G land shows a tendency of folk belief.As the sinicization of Buddhism,Christianity missionary practice is not in place to bring up a batch of western christians,their beliefs while retain the western Christianity's shell,but the belief that the kernel has become Chinese.Therefore,this article aimed at a local church in north China,the organization,the doctrine and ritual three aspects elaborated the local Christian together with folk beliefs relationship of interaction and integration,in order to reveal the essence of the Christian faith in the local society.
