The epic Jangar is a long heroic epic of Mongolian, it is one of the three most famous and valuable epics of ethnic minority in China, the other two are Manasi of Kirgiz and Gesar of Tibetan. In the history, this epic spread among the Mongolians in Xinjiang and spread to other places with the migration of the people, such as Russia. It mainly describes the war stories of King Jangar and his warriors; they fight with some different enemies to protect their beautiful and peaceful homeland, which is called Bao Muba. These stories portray many distinguishing role images, all of which are typical and significant in culture. They are related to the influences of this epic in the long history processes of spreading. The study of epic Jangar in our country started about in1950s, and has developed faster and faster since1990s. The most important features of current study are that the association between different projects become increasingly weak. There are more and more views of research whose results become more and more different from each other. There are seldom integrated academic works. Besides this, there are few research results from the educational point of view and thus more comprehensive and in-depth study is needed. Looking for the connotation of Jangar from perspective of education is the origin of this study. In the process of epic Jangar's spreading, it is obvious that some point of views, or influences are conveyed to the people, which be treated as a kind of education. Starting from this point, this paper treats the spreading of epic Jangar's as a progress of education, and tries to analyze its features, its educational contents and methods, and then a discussion of educational purposes in certain social backgrounds is made. At last, this paper focuses on the relationship among the educational function, personal development and social development. Jangar's education is used as an instance in the discussion. The conclusion is that personal development and social development are an unity of opposites, and education is the intermediary of their interaction.
