In1899,"De Mo Event" occured in Tibet, whose blasting fuse was a pair of boots cursed with mantra, which was given by a retired regent named De Mo La Ma to the thirteenth Dalai Lama. After the gift was received, the Dalai Lama started showing symptoms of physical discomfort. Afterward, the "bkav shag" government arrested everyone involved in this incident in very short time. Subsequently, the De Mo La Ma died in prison in the end, whose reincarnation was also banned and discontinued. As for other people involved, they all received punishment due to complexity of involvement. This event ended up with imprisonment of De Mo La Ma, later the verdict was reversed by Qing dynasty, which led a misleading impression to people that this case was just considered to be an injustice lawsuit. However, based on the study of Tibetan and Chinese historical materials, this paper attempted to prove that the event can not be regarded as a lawsuit but a political wrestling. This article discusses the nature of this event, and divides into five chapters. The first chapter generally introduces the significance of this event, the status quo of research and major research methodology; the second chapter briefly introduces the thirteenth Dalai Lama and the incident in a panoramic view; the third chapter proves the inevitability of the De Mo event. In fact, settlement of this incident by the authority takes advantage of religious belief of Tibetan people to ultimately achieve their own political purposes. It is undeniable that in this incident cursed boots are pour political tool on the veil of religion. Owing to inevitable conflict between the Regent and the Dalai Lama, the De Mo incident is a political conspiracy involved by the thirteenth Dalai Lama and De Mo Regent group; the fourth chapter justifies the inevitability of De Mo incident, which has deep social root.Since the regency was established, the power struggle has never subsided. Form the ninth Dalai Lama to thirteenth Dalai Lama, all of them became victims of political struggle. Drawing lessons from precedent tragedies, the thirteenth Dalai Lama nursed his strength and seized the opportunity, and gained the initiative by striking the first. Finally, the power struggle was ended by bloodshed conflict and unilateral victory; the fifth chapter expounded on the impact of De Mo incident after the verdict was reversed by commissioner Lian Yu and influence on subordinate temples of De Mo La Ma, which signified that the whole story of De Mo events can not be simply perceived as political struggle other than a unjust lawsuit.
