"democracy" And "republic": Different To The Fusion

Democratic theory and Republican theory experienced a course from separation to integration with the development of political reality in centuries.The noble goal of Democracy in ancient Athens was to realize the majority rule, which means the will and rights of citizens were above everything else in political life. However, the primary purpose of ancient Roma Republican was to oppose any sovereign autocracy. The core values, the arrangement of the organs of state power, and how they operate are quite different. Therefore, the democratic theory and republican theory differed greatly at that time, so did democracy and republican.Since modern times, both the democratic theory and the republican theory have experienced far-reaching transform and development. For the democratic theory, the"majority rule"was replaced by the"elect representative", and a series of systems were carried out, such as electoral system, parliamentary system, political system, political party system, and supervision system, based on the representative system and the constitutional theory. All of which constituted the contents of modern democracy. As for the republican theory, the most significant development was perfection of the theory of mixed government. Mixed equilibrium was improved from balanced development of rights of different social classes to check and balance of separation of powers. In addition, the political status of citizens gradually topped that of the nobles, and in stead of moral characters, the political system began to play a fundamental role.Common political values were harbored during the integration of Democratic theory and Republican theory. And gradually, the republican systems blended into the democratic systems, which made republic democracy system the most representative polity since modern times.
