Since the reform and opening-up, the great changes have taken place in the rural areas in the aspects of economic structure, social life and thoughts. The paces on urbanization and the aging of the population are speeding up. Especially with the progressively improvement of the market economy and the further carrying out of family planning, there have been great changes in people's residence and life style. The tendency of the family miniaturization is evident; the "empty nest" families have arisen in the rural areas and taken on an increasing state. The traditional old-age provision model has been challenged and the "empty nest" elderly in the rural areas have met a predicament. Confronted with the social reality of ageing before getting rich, exploring solutions to old-age problems of empty nest elderly in rural areas in the course of social transformation has become a crucial research topic.The paper adopts depth interview, through the reality life of Shucheng empty nest elderly in Anhui province, point out the limitations in our current endowment patterns. Through the substantial survey and theoretical analysis, the paper holds that the home-based care for the aged not only conforms to the objective requirement of the ageing of the population, the actual national conditions and the traditional cultural customs, but also satisfies the willing of being at home of the aged. It can also fully integrate the family and the social resources and make up a defect of the family care by the community service. It is also the economical way to solve the problem of "empty nest" elderly provision in rural areas.This article is divided into five parts. The fist part is the introduction. The second part is the reason and reality life of the empty nest elderly in rural areas. The third part has pointed out the limitations in our current endowment patterns. The forth part analysis how to carry out home-based care. The last part is the conclusion of the research. Reflection on the limitations of this study, and put forward the prospects for future study.
