The theory of world history is an important part of historical materialism. Inthe light of the definition of the relevant concepts and the logic of Marx's theory of world history, I clearly highlight the great revolutionary on the view of history and the great significance that from Hegel to Marx: The moving of world history theory. In this essay, I also probe the contemporary significance of historical materialism on the base of elaborating and the practice of the globalization.In the introduction, I present the research on historical materialism at home and abroad. And I put forward the developing tendency of the research. In chapter 1, I give the definition of the relevant concepts. In chapter 2, I analyse the critics and heritage to Hegel's theory of world history by Marx's. In chapter 3, I elaborate the abundant connotations of historical materialism that different from Hegel's by the abstraction of Marx's theory. In chapter 4, I state the contemporary significance of historical materialism on the background of globalization.I pursue the study of historical materialism on the basis of predecessors' work. Generally speaking, the process of forming historical materialism is the starting point in the Study. In this essay, I analyse the turning to materialism of Marx's theory of world history and the contemporary significance.
