Fieldwork is a typical qualitative research method. And fieldwork has been widely used in the research of anthropology and sociology. Although fieldwork has been applied to the research of communication for a short time, it has got some achievements. The research of this thesis, using the method of fieldwork,carried out survey at a small village of shanxi province in order to find out what kind of role had media played in the rural daily life.The thesis has four parts.the first part is a brief introduction to the research and some important concepts. The second part is a introduction to the village and the reasons for why to choose this village as a survey object.The third is the core of this thesis. The writer,through introducing three different types of families with the method of deep description, analysises the role of media population in the rural ecosystem, the subject of the clamp and the resulting formation of the variation.The forth part tries to analysis the questions of the third part and find out the reference to solve the problems.
