| Ethnic unity education concerns social stability and country promote decline. As a multi-ethnic country with fifty-six ethnics in China, our central government always attaches importance to the work of ethnic unity education. Since the institutions of higher learning are the cradle cultivating the China's ethnic elites, the ethnic unity education in Universities concerns directly their cognition and attitude to ethnic unity, and then their attitude influences the views of whole society. Therefore, strengthening the research of ethnic unity education in universities is very important.This study based on the implementation system and the contents and forms of ethnic unity education in the universities, analyzes its implementing effect, and finally gives deep thinking and countermeasures. This paper hopes to explore the universal paradigm by analyzing the universities situation, and then do some beneficiary probe to other units' work on ethnic unity education.In this research, the Evaluation Index System of Ethnic Group Unity Education is established. Both the Likert Scaling and Bogardus Social Distance Scale are applied to evaluate the effect of ethnic unity education. This study also choice four representative universities as research subject, analyzing in security system, publicity contents, cognition and attitude to ethnic unity and social distance between different ethnics.The study found that most ethnic institutes establish a relatively complete implementation system of ethnic unity education, but the general universities have a weak implementation system. The knowledge of the ethnic unity is popularized to ethnic minorities and Han students well in ethnic institutes, but in general universities, minority students are better than Han students. Minority and Han students in ethnic institutes accept the ethnic unity in a higher proportion than them in general universities, however the proportion of Han students is lower than minority students. Most students in ethnic institutes have the normal social contacts with other ethnics, but a few students in general universities dislike to associate with other ethnics. The ratio of students in both kinds of universities maintaining an intimate relationship with other ethnics is not high, lower than65percent.After a detailed cause analysis of the investigation, this paper tries to explore the long-term strategic and specific measures for the ethnic unity education. It should be viewed as necessary social issue facing to universities, and also should be integrated in ideological and political education to establish long-term mechanism. In specific measures, we should break the obstacle in the dual structure of universities in isolation, emphasize on civic education and explore an effective form of education, concern the growth of minority students to support their success in the field of majority ethnics, pay close attention to sensitive ethnics and strengthen their Chinese identity education. |
