As the core content in the high school mathematics, the function takes up an important position in the domain of the mathematics. The function concept is more abstract difficult in were comprehend by the student. When thestudent enter into high middle school, the content become abstract and difficult, so there exist widespread problems in the function concept teaching.The research will explore the way of the learning of function through three facts:(1) There were some educators in our countory who introduced the APOS theory to the middle school educational reform and obtained the certain effect in enhancing the teaching achievement. This article will prove it is efficient to instruct the teaching for student's full scale development with the APOS theory.(2) The writer takes the stand of cognition to explore the process of the psychology of the studying of the function concept to find some useful things for the teaching of the function concept.The research include two aspects:The first will introduct the theory of the cognition, the theory of the APOS.The second through the questionaire, interview and other series to look into the studying of the students. Based on the importance and complexity of function,the paper begins with the investigation of the function studying of the senior middle school students, the author designed questionnaires, study thecommon mistakes in the function learning. Regarding this and did related factoranalysis. So we can find out som problems in the teaching of the function concept and we can put forward som suggestions.
