The Internet has gone deep into our lives. We have entered the Internet age. Internet culture is a new cultural phenomenon which emerges with the development of modern science and technology and is the combination of technology and new ideas. Internet culture breaks the boundaries between countries, regions and areas, making the world a"global village". College students are the main force in the Internet age. They are likely to be influenced by western culture on Internet. In such a background, this thesis conducts an elaborate study about the development of the Chinese education schemas in the context of the Internet culture.Based on the theories of Internet culture, the earlier studies of the impact of western culture on college students'world views and values, the Chinese education schemas, this thesis puts forward three research questions. They are:1. In Chinese college students'opinion, are the Internet culture and western culture related? If so, what is the relationship between the two?2. What are the influences of online western culture on Chinese college students'world views and values?3. In the context of Internet culture, have Chinese college students changed their education schemas? If so, how?To seek answers to the three questions, the author used a questionnaire to investigate 207 college students from four universities in Dalian. The quantitative datas gained from the questionnaire have been elaborately analyzed by means of descriptive statistics in terms of frequency, percentage and mean. The research findings are: first, the Internet has become an indispensable part of college students'life. Most subjects believe that the Internet can be exposed to western culture. This shows that there is western culture on Internet. Second, the majority of subjects also believe that online western culture affects college students'world views and values. Third, through the survey, two of the six Chinese education schemas identified by Leng Hui (2007) have changed. They are: the Chinese education schema-师道尊严('teachers as unquestioned authority') and考大学是正事('success on tertiary entrance examinations as the gateway to one's future').The significance of the study is to investigate the changes of Chinese education schemas and to promote Chinese education reform.
