Since 2000,the phenomenon of “Chinese Culture Aphasia” has raised that foreign language teaching should not only focus on the introduction of Western culture,but also pay attention to Chinese culture(Cong Cong,2000).However,in the actual teaching of culture,students still have difficulty in enhancing national consciousness and patriotism.Many students have such a tendency that Western culture is better than Chinese culture.Classroom teaching is the core status in the process of TEFL,are there any problems for English teachers to introduce Chinese culture and Western culture? There are little relevant researches which are from the point of EFL teaching,so the study is aimed to find the possible reasons.The research mainly includes the following steps: To begin with,the questionnaire for the students is used to understand students' culture identity.In addition,the questionnaire and interview for teachers are conducted to understand how teachers understand the function of Chinese culture and Western culture in EFL teaching and whether teachers master the methods and principles of culture teaching.Furthermore,some units with rich culture are selected to listen and recorded in the classroom observation.It is mainly about the different contents and time when teachers deal with Chinese culture and Western culture.In conclusion: firstly,teachers cannot fully understand the significance of Chinese culture and Western culture in foreign language teaching.One of the teaching objectives is to deepen the understanding of Western culture,and then students can comprehend Chinese culture more deeply.The learning of different cultures can reduce the errors in intercultural communication.Secondly,teachers do not reach a fully grasp to the principles and methods of culture teaching.In foreign language teaching,through the comparison of different cultures,students can understand the differences between Chinese culture and Western culture,improve culture sensitivity,and ultimately promote intercultural communicative competence.Thirdly,the culture consciousness in the NSEC requires teachers to understand culture comprehensively.Teachers should introduce both the excellent culture and the negative culture,so that students can fully know culture.Finally,according to the research results,the corresponding teaching suggestions are proposed.Through the investigation,it has a theoretical complement and practical guidance to the English Teaching in senior high middle school.
