In recent years, with the return of Chinese university culture essence, more and more people of insight realize that the first-class university must have a first-class culture. History and practice have shown it’s the inevitable choice for China to build world-class universities by developing and constructing Chinese characteristic university culture. So, the main content of this thesis is to research and answer questions of constructing and developing Chinese characteristic university culture with multiple points of view and multidisciplinary approach.China’s modern university began with imitating the western university system, so Chinese university cultural construction must be faced with "the confusion from the west". Meanwhile, Faced with the challenge and impact of cultural diversity, in order to fulfill the grand mission that the party and state has granted, Chinese characteristic university culture is in urgent need for theoretical innovation and scientific practice. In the process of western university culture observation and comparative analysis, the relationship between eastern and western university cultures is found to be very similar with the chemistry between two "isomers". Hence, the author puts up the preliminary idea of applying Isomerism theory to the research of Chinese characteristic university culture construction.At first, evolutionary driving force theory is applied to analyze the evolution and change of Chinese and western university culture, and the study shows that the western university culture is the outcome of history and culture as a result of natural evolution driving force, while the culture of China’s higher education (university culture) is the outcome of history and culture with forced evolution as the driving force. And then, the study summarizes the historical evolution mechanism of the Chinese and western university culture. With concepts and theories of isomerism in chemistry, the study analyzes the "homogeneous" yet "heterogeneous" phenomenon of Chinese-Western cultures and concludes that Chinese-Western university cultures can be regarded as a pair of isomers. Given the fact that there is presently a similar isomerism towards the understanding of the structure and composition of university culture, the thesis introduces the concept "university culture function groups", and gives it an "Isomerism type" analysis. Based on classical culture model and the chemical "closed circular conjugate system" theory, with "education function" as the core, the thesis establishes university culture isomerism model and discusses the working mechanism of "university culture function groups". Using expert investigation method and AHP analytic hierarchy process, the thesis established the "university culture structure of AHP hierarchical model", which helps calculate the weight of each level factors of the current Chineseuniversity culture, as well as their sorting and classification.Thus, the "four in one" type of university culture isomeric theory framework has been initially established, consisting of "university culture historical evolution mechanism","university culture isomerism and structure analysis","university culture isomers model" and "university culture structure of AHP hierarchical model"Through the analysis and argument, the study argues that cultural self-consciousness and cultural self-confidence realize the harmonious unification with university culture isomerism theory, which makes it possible to re-establish and develop the structure and connotation of Chinese characteristic university culture, with Isomerism theory as it theoretical basis, and with cultural self-consciousness and self-confidence as its soul. Finally, the study chooses the culture construction practice of Dalian University of Technology as the object of case study to verify the feasibility to apply University Culture Isomerism theory to the practice of Chinese characteristic university culture construction practice. The case study induces and illustrates the basic paradigm for Chinese characteristic university culture research and application based on Isomerism theoretical framework.
