Vocabulary teaching is an important component in the process of English teaching and learning in senior high school, effective vocabulary teaching can found a fine basic for the mastery of language, and cultivate the ability of language communication. However, the phenomenon that waste time without much effect in the process of vocabulary teaching in senior high school is very common. Vocabulary remains a difficult problem in the process of English learning. According to the materials, we can find language transfer phenomenon is one of the many factors that influence English learning, and it can not be overlooked.Native language transfer theories originate from 1940s when the behaviorism dominate linguistics, it was regarded as an important theory to construct teaching and leaning. For long, though many researchers had studies on language transfer theories, there is little studies on the level of vocabulary, especially on the effect of positive transfer of native language has on second language learning. Positive transfer researches remain a field that is overlooked all the time. At the time we pay attention to the effect of the negative transfer, we should not overlook the importance of positive transfer. Only in this way, can we have all-sided and dialect cognition about native effect. And only in this way, can we improve the quality of English vocabulary teaching in senior high school. In view of the importance of vocabulary and the effect the transfer theory has on English teaching, this thesis aim at study that whether native language has positive effect on English vocabulary acquisition, how native language influence English vocabulary acquisition and how apply positive transfer phenomenon to improve English acquisition, and whether mental transfer as non-language factors effect second language vocabulary acquisition.The experiment begin at September 2010, the subjects are selected from two intact classes in Panjin Senior High School. In experimental class the method connected with positive transfer theory was applied, and in controlled class the traditional method was applied. Data collection includes interview, questionnaire, review and pretest and posttest. Statistical method was applied in the data analysis.
