The increasing support of Chinese government to the west China construction has resulted in the increased number of students enrolled from Tibet to be cultivated in the inland areas in China and more regions involved in the education of these students. But at the same time, a lot of issues have emerged in teaching because of the variation of their fundamental quality of learning: the great gaps have been spotted among them, which makes it difficult in English teaching in the middle school. The students from Tibet are mainly from two parts:urban and rural areas. To the students from remote countryside, English is a third language, which possibly children have never exposed to; while for students from cities, English is a language that most of them have learned a bit in the primary school. Consequently, when the two are put together in the same class, polarization emerges, which brings about the negative effect on the English teaching. To minify the disparity between the two groups, and adopt the "teaching in accordance with the students' aptitude" principle, it is indispensable for the educator to divide the students into different levels to teach. The thesis firstly has done a critical review on the related theories, home and abroad, concerning teaching according to the different levels in class, so as to lay a theoretical foundation for the study. At the same time, a survey has been conducted on the researches done so far in this field. Through the examination and analysis of the level-separation in students, teaching aim, class organization, homework assignment and evaluation system of teaching results, the thesis proposes some scopes, concrete approaches, measures and means. By means of data comparison and exploration, the thesis expounds the possibility, necessity as well as its importance of such division in Tibetan students' English teaching. Based on the studies of questionnaires, data and teaching cases, the thesis finally concludes that differential treatment in teaching can stimulate, to the full extent, the students'interest in the participation of class. It can improve the English teaching efficiency and achieve the ideal study effect. The research undoubtedly offers a fresh vision and a reference to the English teaching for inland Tibetan classes.
