| From the aspect of Chinese SL learners, teacher corrective feedback is of the utmost importance. Many scholars have done series of researches on the effect of different teachers'corrective feedback. However, how explicit feedback needs to be is an issue which warrants further investigation. Gao (2010) indicated that most research subjects are university students or adults. Little research has been carried out among senior high school students, and this has caused an imbalance in research findings. On the basis of the previous research, the author has used a quasi-experimental research method to investigate the influence of different teacher corrective feedback explicitness on senior students'modifying proficiency. Research variable is different teacher corrective feedback explicitness, which has two levels—underling+coding feedback, underlining feedback; dependent variable is the students'modifying proficiency, which also includes two levels, i.e. modifying proficiency on treatable errors and untreatable errors. Research data includes students'writing articles, revised versions, and questionnaire. The data analysis instrument is social science statistical software package SPSS 17.0. By arranging the collected data, analyzing data via descriptive analysis and test, we draw the following conclusions:First, overall, the result shows that underling+coding feedback can improve students'modifying proficiency more effectively than other feedback methods. When comparing students'modifying proficiency on different error types, the result shows that except for prepositions, the effect of underling+coding feedback and underling feedback on students'modifying proficiency shows no significant difference on other types of treatable errors; for untreatable errors, underling+coding feedback shows greater significance than underling feedback.Second, from the questionnaire results we can conclude that students hope to receive teacher's corrective feedback and confirm that teacher corrective feedback is helpful to correct errors. Most students regard underling+coding feedback as the best feedback mode, then direct corrective feedback, then underling feedback. |
