Minority Traditional Sports. Kangding County Resources In Research And Development

Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is a place of multiethnic groups, whose majority is Tibetan Nationality. All the ethnic groups have invented various kinds of physical activities respectively in their own course of history development. Reflecting in religious fetes and cultural are activities, these physical activities shows more vitality and potency.As a brick tea trade center and a place of strategic importance, Kangding is the provincial capital of former Kham and now the capital of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Embraced in mountains at three sides and gone through by two rivers, locating on the plateau, Kangding is a mountain county covering an area of 11,400 square kilometers, with population of 116,800. Thanks for KBS Asian Corridor in Heaven, she has produced unique Khamba Culture which developed its diversity. Known by a beautiful song Kangding Love Song, she became noticed to the whole world and entitled as a world-famous cultural county. Mountain Strolling Meeting on Lunar April 8 is the most characterized one in lots of rich traditional ethnic physical activities there. With a long history and culture, the Meeting attracts plenty of outsiders for the whole Khamba area. In recent years, as improving opening to the outside world and attracting investments, the Meeting has become a festival activity of large-scale rally which is gifted with clear times specialty and a collection of religions, cultures, arts, sports, trades, recreations and custom, not only a simple traditional folk culture festival in ethnic areas. It plays a critical role in the development of Kangding ethnic traditional physical culture and social economy. In addition, Kangding has lavish resources of hot springs and high mountains from the special gifts of local geographic environment, making it a good choice of health care and mountain-climbing sports. However, existing scientific technology, human resources and policies are not sufficient to fully explore the value of traditional physical resources, let alone developing industrialization; that is why it cannot get high economic benefit from this. This essay is focus on rational exploration of ethnic traditional physical resources, to save and protect folk culture as well as to improve its development and economic benefits.Four methods are adopted in this essay, including document method, field method questionnaire method and expert interview method; the associated theories are sports industry economics, sports leisure economics and leisure sports science etc. The essay put emphasis on the development of Kangding County traditional sports, combining with the current advantages and problems of the exploration of ethnic traditional sports resources there, to strive to obtain exploratory and instructional research results of developing Kangding traditional sports and to give some ideas and proposals which may help draft the development plan of Kangding County sports industry. Wish all the efforts done would transfer into more economic value of the traditional sports, then sports and economy will realize mutual promotion and common prosperity.
