Urbanization And Traditional Community Recycling

The urbanization is the most direct appearance of china's modernization process. During the process, the modern civilization does not necessarily emerge as the urbanization forming along; however the traditional communities have been fading away as the modern civilization growing. The modern China's urbanization in traditional communities is a key part of the transition to modernization. Urbanization is a profoundly impacting on China's vast rural areas, in which villages among urban and rural are facing the most intense. In order to understand the transition of the modernization in traditional communities, this article intends to study a typical case, "Ying Village ", in the suburbs of Taiyuan. The objet of the study is to investigate problems and responses in the community tradition of "Ying Village" since modern times, and to introspect the problems of traditional communities in the current process of urbanization under the new situation, meanwhile put forward some views and ideas. Ying Village as an inchoate village formed in the Northern Song Dynasty, but it only has a small population. During the Hongwu years, due to policies such as military colonies, the population of Ying Village had rapidly increased. During Ming and Qing Dynasties, as the development of commodity economy, Ying Village had bloomed the cultural, civil religionary prosperity. The tradition of Ying Village is basically formed at that period. Since the reform and opening up to the eve of modern times, the clan forces, the religious folk activities, the interaction of political power and the rural society, the cultural and recreational activities and other traditional factors have adapted, encouraged or rejected the modernizing in different levels. We should notice that since the modern history, the village tradition had kept some of the negative factors in the modernization's challenges and responses, which reminds us under the trend of urbanization and in the current process of traditional communities, it continuously exists the negative factors, meanwhile it saves and develops their positive core factor. The matter of modernization is to shape the modern people, to investigate the reforming of the traditional community; people should focus on people as the carrier of traditional culture.
