Questioning plays an important role in classroom teaching, it can not only monitor the progress of students, but also provide many opportunities for interested and able students to further extend their talents, therefore questioning is regarded as one of the most important methods of connecting students and teaching materials,In recent years, researches on questioning in classroom have been increasing both at home and abroad. However, most of the studies on questioning of foreign language teaching are in the case of developed countries while the researches in our country are relatively less. Meanwhile these researches mainly talk about the function, methods and principle of questioning again and again, as well as about the methods problems of English teachers'on the job, but few are on the questioning activity of student teachers'teaching rather than on senior high school English classroom teaching.This paper focuses on the English student teachers' questioning activity in senior high schools'classroom teaching and takes scores of English classes in the Nanjing and Nantong area as the samples. Through the classroom observation, survey and interview, it furthers the study on six models of English classroom teaching.This paper analyzes the differences between the student teachers and experienced teachers from three aspects:the preparation before questioning, questioning in class and the introspection after questioning, in order to find out the causes of the differences. Through the analysis on the specific questions, it is found that student teachers lack actual teaching experience and good psychological quality, and what's more, teaching principle of student teachers' -especially the wisdom to handle the relationship between teachers and students, need to be improved. Finally, the paper puts forward four suggestions for the training of student teachers from four aspects:problem design, questioning, waiting and feedback.
