| As the old saying goes, it is better to teach a man to fish than to give him fish. The famous educator, Tao Xingzhi once said,'A good instructor teaches not the books, but the students, and enables them to learn by themselves.'Another famous educator, Ye Shengtao also said,'If you do not teach them how to preview, they will not go through several precious psychological process in learning.'Considering predecessors'vision, as well as the education phenomena around us, the demands for personnel training and China's contemporary reforms of quality education call for the innovation of students'learning style. More deeply, this change lies in the change of teachers'teaching strategies. Enough time and space should be created for students, with the final aim of leading them to'master it', then'learn to learn', and'be willing to learn'.The author narrows down the research question on the basis of related literature review and questionnaires for senior one students in the writer's school. The practice is conducted from three perspectives, the teacher, the students and the evaluation. Unlike the traditional casual preview, this action research aims to lead students to preview autonomously, cooperatively and explanatorily, according to the learning materials and course evaluation. The author designs different exploratory lessons based on different teaching materials, invites colleagues to participate in the action research, and gradually forms the teaching model, that is, learning guided by pre-lesson preview. Aside from that, the whole team finally compiles the Learning Handbook systematically with all the practice reflection and useful learning resources available, for the convenience for students'systematic self-learning.In the past two years,6 fellow colleagues have been involved in the research project. We all agree that the practice can build up the professional quality, promote teachers'research on students. The teaching plans of the teachers reflect the notion of "student and problem-centered". In the study, students are more interested in the lessons thus the class is more efficient. The study involves two cohorts of students most of whom mentioned the great benefits the gained when interviewed. Learning guided by pre-lesson preview includes guidance in the tree map of the knowledge, the experiment design, reading and test, which helps students better understand the whole process of study. The students confirmed that the practice helped them transit from junior to senior, and they learned how to preview in the late study, mostly importantly, they formed a good learning habit and learned how to study chemistry. The majority of the students said that the subject was not boring they were more confident and more chances of expressing themselves were given. Some students pointed out that due to the lack of time, preview can not be done carefully. The author realizes from the practice that guided preview can lower students'burdens and help them to learn more efficiently thus considering continuing the study in senior two in recombining different modules to suit students'different learning levels so that students of all levels can benefit from the preview process. |
