With the rapid development in the size of graduate enrollment, the demand for high-level innovative talents is increasing dramatically. As a result, scientific training and rational management to graduate students is critical. Assistant work is an important component during the training process of graduate students, as well as an inflection of the overall reform in colleges and universities. Participating in assistant work is helpful to enhance the quality of graduate student training to a large extent.This study focuses on the enhancement and accomplishment of the management system in assistant works of graduate students, against the background of the enlargement of student size, the continuous policy reform and confliction emerged in graduate assistant works. Based on this focus, this paper discusses the identity of graduate student workers and the establishment of contracts during their assistant work, with an inter-disciplinary perspective and a comprehensive application of modern contract theory.Next, this paper chooses Shanghai Jiao tong University as an example to present current situation of assistant work in the university and to reveal its phenomena and features, through the process of interviews and questionnaire surveys to some administrators in charge of graduate students'assistant work. Then this paper analyses the graduate assistant work and contracts in the U.S. system to draw on relevant experience available to help establishing and accomplishing the management system and contracts in graduate assistant work system in China. To conclude, this paper summarizes the deficiency in assistant work system in China and put forward some suggestions.
