The new English curriculum put forward new requirements for the high school students. However, students are not so interested in learning English. As one of the major emotional factors of English learning, motivation plays a very important part in English learning process and studensts'performances.The essay investigates the differences of the motivations of different types of students through questionnaires and interview. The easy also made some suggestions on how to stimulate the students'motivation of English learning. The author classifies the possible motivational factors into seven sorts. The seven kinds of English learning motivation include sinner motivation, such as interest, as well as outer motivation, for example, grades, going abroad, information, and so on. After the investigation and data analysis, the conclusion has been made. The main motivations are marks, interest, development, information, responsibility, situation, going abroad. The art students have the strongest motivation, then the students in key classes. The boy students attach more impotence to responsibility and marks. The girl student's inner motivation is stronger than boy students, the art students'is stronger than science students, and the key students'is stronger than average students. Through interview, we know that the teacher plays an important role in students'English learning. The students like knowledgeable teachers and lively and happy lessons. There are some suggestions on English teaching through analysis. First, the teachers should stimulate different students'motivation accordingly. Second, the teachers should improve themselves and set a good example and get along well with the students. In class, the students should have more chances to learn the information about English. Finally, while stimulating the students'motivation, the teacher should pay attention to the students'future development. |
